Welcome to Avon Valley Triathletes, the multi-sport arm of Avon Valley Runners. Whether you’re a multiple Ironman, or thinking of your first duathlon, this is the place for you.
If you’re a member of AVR, you’re automatically a member of AVT at no extra charge. AVT is headed up by Caroline Scott, the Multi-Sport Secretary. Caroline also sits on the AVR Committee and is supported by the AVT working group. You can contact Caroline at avt@avonvalleyrunners.org.uk.
AVT is more than the sum of its parts – we believe being a member of a supportive group with similar interests makes us all better individually. No matter what challenge you’re taking on, you will find encouragement, advice, and very likely someone crazy enough to do it with you.
If you’re at all interested in triathlon, duathlon or any other '-athlon' involving swim, bike or run, come along to one of our regular sessions.

Coached Swimming
7am Mondays, Tuesday, Fridays with our partner club at Trowbridge Pool. Each session is £8.50.
You must already be able to swim 200m continuous front crawl to access this session.

Friday is the main day, we meet at Vobster Quay, usually after 4pm, however people buddy up and go any time. Membership needed or attend as a guest of a member.

When it's too cold at Vobster we hire a swimming lane on Friday evenings in Trowbridge to keep the social meet ups happening, and also provide swim sets and guidance for £5.

We link in with Westbury Wheelers which means we join in with any of their member lead rides over the week.
Membership with Westbury Wheelers is required after 3 rides at £20 per year. Sessions held on everyday of the week covering a range of abilities.

May to August we join in with Westbury Wheelers fortnightly 10 mile TT to work on speed and enjoy some friendly competition with club mates.
Castle Combe host Time Trials also, and we enjoy going up to practise on Tuesdays throughout the summer months.

The AVT Strava 'Segment of the Month' is a monthly cycling competition.
Between April and September we lead a monthly ride to find and smash the Srava segments highlighted for that month for points that accumulate over the year.

Running is provided by AVR who host multiple sessions over the week and plenty of running events take place locally to get involved with.

Any upcoming races or events where you’ll see friendly AVT faces are shared on the members only AVT Facebook group. AVT choose different events each year for a club focus, and also take part in relays, aquathlons, aquabikes and duathlons, so if you're not ready for the whole thing yet, or currently injured in one area, you can still take part.

Early in the season we organize an informal event for beginner triathletes, (and those wanting a low key start of season refresher) to have a go at multi sport in a friendly and supportive manner.
There are no time pressures and plenty of members to speak to for advice. This year we introduced new members who had joined over the winter to their first multi-sort experience!

The year is recorded in the AVT league where you can achieve awards for distance traveled (How Hard Did You Tri), overall achievement (main AVT league - where we look at your best performances), Segment of the Month (cycling over the year), as well as recognition of improvement and inspiring others.

Monthly socials are arranged for after the Friday Night Swim at a local bar in Trowbridge for tapas and/or drinks - All Welcome - even if you didn't swim!
